The job.

Why it's hard today.

  • Aggregation is manual and slow. Pulling themes from reviews, tickets, surveys, and returns for a prioritization cycle takes days and compiles into a long deck.
  • Themes cross SKU boundaries unevenly. A theme affecting 12 SKUs weights differently from one affecting 1 high-revenue SKU. Neither is wrong, but both need to be visible.
  • Sentiment weight is hard to quantify. A theme with 200 mentions and −60 aspect sentiment is different from 200 mentions and −10 aspect sentiment. Volume alone misleads.

The default scoring combines volume, aspect-level sentiment magnitude, and business-cost signal (returns, ticket load). A theme with moderate volume and strong negative sentiment outranks a theme with high volume and mild sentiment. The weights are adjustable per category — for CPG, volume matters more; for high-ticket hardware, sentiment and returns correlation matter more.

Does this replace user research?

No. Feedback aggregation tells you what customers say unprompted. User research tells you why they say it and what they'd prefer. Best practice combines both: aggregation surfaces the priorities, then targeted user research interrogates the ones you're about to act on.

How do you distinguish between a real request and a vocal-minority complaint?

Source diversity is the signal. A theme appearing in reviews + tickets + returns for the same SKU is widespread. A theme appearing only in high-engagement support threads is often a vocal minority. Indellia flags source-diverse themes separately from single-source themes.
